Questions

Who is responsible for what we publish?

You are, as with any freelance contribution. You keep full editorial control and do your own checks.

Does Daylight verify the stories?

No. Daylight checks identities (journalists) and registrations (buyers), never stories or evidence. What a pitch says, including the evidence it lists, is the journalist's own statement, and each newsroom checks a story before it publishes it. Nothing on Daylight is described as a “verified story”.

Can we contact journalists directly?

Contacts are shown once escrow is funded. Repeat work can run as direct deals at a 5% total fee.

How do refunds work?

If a dispute is decided in your favour, or the journalist withdraws, unreleased escrow is refunded with the matching share of Daylight's fee.
